THE MODEL COUNTRY
Amnesty International wants to warn the Dutch public. Human rights are being violated without anyone noticing it. How do we convince the Dutch that their country isn’t that romantic, ideal country they like to believe?
By changing their most idyllic version of the Netherlands into reality.
We change Madurodam's romantic and nostalgic representation of the Netherlands into a realistic version with recent violations of human rights. Model scenes mimic these violations. Like the ethnic profiling of typhoon, the protest at AZC and mistreatment of gay people. This campaign will put Dutch human rights in the spotlight again.
Inside the park visitors will get a map that gives info about the recent violations. Audio and sound effects inside the park will make the scenes interactive and informative.
The campaign will mainly be experienced online. Google streetview, combined with audio stories, allows people to view the park to learn more about the violations. Afterwords you can make your pledge for human rights. And the best part is: your online support will have impact in the 'real' world.
Every online pledge will add a physical person in our small demonstration.
This demonstration will stay in Madurodam to show how many Dutch people care about human rights.
